HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of HM the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs and President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports dedicated the historic victory achieved by mare Daahyeh in the Royal Ascot race to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, stating that this win is a direct outcome of HM’s support and keen interest in the horse sport.
“Daahyeh’s victory in the prestigious Royal Ascot race adds to the series of accomplishments made by Bahrain’s horse race sport thanks to the backing of HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa as this sport has been always part of the Kingdom’s history,” HH Shaikh Nasser said.
“We are proud of the support given to this sport by HM the King, who has been always the main patron of the horse sports in Bahrain and this has fueled us with strength and motivation to take them to a different level in an effort to reflect HM’s backing for them,” HH Shaikh Nasser added.
Moreover, HH Shaikh Nasser expressed his sincere appreciation to HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai for standing by his side and supporting him during the race en route to making this historic achievement.
It’s worth noting that the HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa-owned Daahyeh topped the podium in the 1200m race for Group 3 (2yr age mares only) following a stunning performance. Steered by jockey David Egan and trained by Roger Varian, Daahyeh defeated 25 participants to deservedly earn the victory.
“Anybody follows the Royal Ascot race understands the amount of competition it witnesses among the competitors due to its importance. Therefore, we have been keen to well prepare Daahyeh for this race and we were confident she will get a positive result,” HH Shaikh Nasser explained, adding: “It was a tough race because of the pool of elite jockeys and horses taking part in it. I am happy with this unprecedented victory because it translates the vision of HM the King to achieve important honours for the Kingdom of Bahrain. This win also came thanks to the dedication and hard work of all the technical and administrative staff,”
