Bahrain’s 2021-22 endurance season opens today with a 40-kilometer qualification race.

Two other races, covering 80km and 100km, will be held tomorrow.

Veterinary tests for horses will be held today at the Bahrain International Endurance Village.

The Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (Breef) is organising the races.

His Majesty the King’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Breef honorary president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa expects the season to be very competitive.

He directed Breef president Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla Al Khalifa and members of various committees to spare no effort to ensure a good start and meet the needs of stables and jockeys.

In a statement on the eve of the opening races, he said this season promises to be different, stressing the good preparations of stables and imported horses which will make races more competitive.

Led by Shaikh Nasser, the Victorious team will compete in different races scheduled for this season and vie for the trophies, building on last year’s winning streak.

Assistant coach Jaffer Mirza said that the team was ready to brave the challenge and compete for all trophies, thanking Shaikh Nasser for his support.
