In the biggest day for Team Bahrain so far in the IMMAF World Championships, the fighters didn’t disappoint as the number-one squad in the world racked up an incredible 15 wins throughout yesterday. There were wins in several weight-classes, including two victories for athletes in the same weight class.
Welterweights Zagid Gaidarov and Ramaza Gitinov moved on to the next round, while Murtaza Talha Ali and Magomed Gadzhiiasulov sent messages to all remaining Light Heavyweights with decisive wins in their bracket. Abbas Khan and Magomed Magomedov also advanced in the Lightweight division.
It was the first day of competition for the women, and Team Bahrain got important figures between the ladies as well. Beatriz Diniz, Brena Cardozo, and Sabrina Sousa all came out victorious in their respective brackets and will move on to the next day of competitions.
In the Heavyweight division, Shamil Gaziev closed out the day in style, knocking out his first opponent, Maksat Musabaev, from Kyrgystan. Magomed Sheikhov advanced in the Strawweights, as well as Magomed Idrisov, in the Bantamweight division.
His Highness Shaikh Khaled bin Hamad Al Khalifa was once again an energetic presence in the corner of Team Bahrain fighters, helping them and guiding them towards victory. He celebrated the squad’s great start and will look forward to the coming days.
