Team Bahrain will start its
participation at the first-ever MMA Youth Championships, this Saturday
in Rome, Italy. The delegation has the full backing of IMMAF president
Kerrith Brown, who believes the three athletes representing Bahrain can
go back to the Kingdom with excellent results.
Mr.
Brown thinks Bader Abdullah, Mohamed Alsameea, and Yusuf Hasan can
mirror the success from the adults, who have done brilliantly over the
last few years to put Bahrain in the top spot of the World Rankings,
thanks to the efforts and dedication of His Highness Shaikh Khaled bin
Hamad Al Khalifa.
“There
are 269 competitors taking part in our first U18s tournament from 25
nations. Bahrain has proven itself in the adult divisions, now ranking
number one. I’m sure that the U18s will equally do Bahrain proud!”, says
an enthusiastic Kerrith Brown, who guarantees the safety of the young
athletes with a special set of rules designed to safeguard the
development of the sport at a grassroots level.
“As
the sport’s governing body it is our duty to provide guidelines for
safe and effective training, as well as pathways for participant and
athlete development”.
Team
Bahrain will be represented at both B Level (for athletes between 14
and 15 years of age) and at A Level (for young fighters between 16 and
17 years of age).
