Bahrain Premier League champions Riffa SC traveled to Morocco for the first knockout stage of the King Mohammed VI Cup, this season’s edition of the Arab Champions Cup. They faced off against Olympic Safi and came out with a credible 1-1 draw.
It was a good result for Riffa SC, who scored an away goal, which could prove crucial in the second leg. Both teams will face off once again on October 1st, this time with home-field advantage for the Bahraini outfit.
Riffa SC is now in control of the tie as a simple 0-0 draw will mean qualification to the last 16 of the Arab Champions Cup.
Whoever wins the game will be qualified, a 1-1 draw will get the match to overtime, while draws with two goals or more will favor Olympic Safi. In the first leg, the Moroccan team scored the first goal of the match, but were then caught off track as they scored an own goal which favored the Bahrain national champions.
The result keeps the team with a good form since they started a key partnership with KHK MMA and BRAVE Combat Federation, set to empower Bahraini football around the world and bring more awareness to the booming football scene in the Kingdom.
