MANAMA (Bahrain) – The Bahrain Basketball Association (BBA) continues to take strides further in raising the level of basketball in the country, ready to be the first federation in Asia to utilize Digital Scoresheet in FIBA competitions. Most notably, the system was in use at the FIBA U18 Asian Championship 2019 – GBA Qualifiers that tipped-off yesterday in Manama.
“The Bahrain Basketball Association is working side by side with FIBA Regional Office Asia to achieve the goals to develop the game and create excitement and competitiveness at the continental level,” said Shaikh Isa bin Ali bin Khalifa, President of the BBA.
The President also mentioned that the BBA has started to move seriously towards developing the organizational and technical sides of the game by using technology.
“This will contribute to making the Bahraini basketball more advanced and moving in the right direction to achieve maximum development with the use of technology in all organizational and technical matters.” Added Khalifa.
Khalifa had approved the Digital Scoresheet to be used in local competitions in early August, making Bahrain the first Asian federation to officially use this technology. The Digital Scoresheet will help to build a solid database for the future and will reduce the use of paper to develop an environment-friendly system.
In order to be prepared for the use of this new system, Khalifa has pointed out that the technical officials involved have all undergone an intensive and specialized course in this regard.
