After
climbing up to the top of mixed martial arts rankings with dominant
performances in the first tournaments of 2019, Team Bahrain will look to
continue to show the world its number one status isn’t a coincidence.
This time, the Kingdom will have a strong representation at the MMA
Youth World Championships, which takes place in Rome, Italy, on 3-4
August.
Three
athletes between the ages of 14 and 17 will be representing Bahrain at
the tournament as they look to mirror the Adults, who have had
tremendous success in the last few years, under the guidance of His
Highness Shaikh Khaled bin Hamad Al Khalifa and his tireless work
towards the development of mixed martial arts in the Kingdom.
In
the Youth B category (for ages 14-15 year-olds), Bader Abdullah is the
main representative, as he will look to medal in the Strawweight class
(under 52 kgs). Mohammed Alsameea and Yusuf Hassan will represent
Bahrain in the Youth A category (16-17 year-olds).
Alsameea
will be in the Strawweight bracket, for fighters under 52 kg, while
Hassan will look for Featherweight gold at 65,8 kg. The trio of Bahrain
representatives will have the backing of the whole country throughout
the competition as they continue their development into top athletes and
future IMMAF World champions.
