Bahrain kicked off their T20 World Cup qualifying campaign in style yesterday defeating Qatar by eight wickets in the Asia A group.
Put in to bat first, Qatar were restricted to 133-5 in their 20 overs.
Abdul Majid was the most successful bowler for Bahrain (23-2). Sathaiya Veerapathiran (23-2) and Anasim Khan (14-1) were equally impressive.
Zaheer Ibrahim (33*), Muhammad Tanveer (25) and Mohammed Rizlan (24) produced a late flourish to help Qatar reach a respectable score.
In reply, a solid opening partnership of 106 between Muhammad Younis and Sarfaraz Ali helped Bahrain chase down the target in just 13.1 overs.
Younis was Player of the Match for his unbeaten 82. Sarfaraz made 42.
Bahrain today take on Kuwait in their second match.
Earlier, Saudi Arabia also registered their first win in the competition, defeating the Maldives by seven wickets.
Chasing a target of 99, Saudi Arabia reached 101-3 in 15.1 overs. Faisal Khan top-scored with 41.
