Victorious at BRAVE 25, Matheus Nicolau can cause problems for champ Loman

by PowerUp Sports

Matheus Nicolau had a dream debut for BRAVE Combat Federation. The Bantamweight was at home for BRAVE 25 and beat former title contender and top striker Felipe Efrain showcasing new and improved stand-up techniques in the co-main event of the evening in front of a near sold-out Arena Minas Tênis Clube. The crowd was all in his favor, with fans, friends and family in attendance to see the biggest win of his young career.
As he settles down and starts to help girlfriend and fellow BRAVE CF fighter Luana Pinheiro, who fights at BRAVE 26 next week, in Colombia, Nicolau reflected on his home victory and claimed he can cause reigning Bantamweight world champion Stephen Loman “a lot of problems”.
“It was the best debut possible. I won at home, in front of my people, and at Minas Tênis Clube, where I had fought before. It was amazing to feel the energy emanating from the crowd. Family, friends, and fans were all there. It was awesome! I hope to build on that win and I’m down to fight for the title next. I have a lot of respect for Loman, he has a big win streak going, but I believe I have all the weapons to cause him problems. I know I can give him the biggest test, and bring questions that he has yet to answer inside the BRAVE arena, I’m confident I can have my hand raised if we fight”, says Nicolau.
However, the focus is purely on Pinheiro for now. She takes on Yasmeli Araque in the main card of BRAVE 26, which goes down in Bogota, on September 7th. Luana was on Nicolau’s corner for the Efrain fight, and he will return the favor, hoping for a perfect week for the couple.
“The focus is entirely on helping Luana now. She has a tough fight ahead of her, but we are well-prepared. After that, I want to rest for a bit, and enjoy the victory, which was against a very tough and well-respected opponent”.
BRAVE Combat Federation sets South America alight wth back-to-back events as the fastest-growing MMA promotion in the world touches down in Bogota for the first time right after BRAVE 25, in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, for BRAVE 26. The fight card will be a co-promotion with top promotion Latin Fighter Championship. BRAVE 25 was the first event held with the partnership of BR Experience Live and its owner Marcos Ferraz.
