Riffa closer to qualification with massive victory at Mohammed VI Champions Cup

by PowerUp Sports

Riffa Sports Club has continued its domination of the opposition. The team came out victorious once again at the Mohammed VI Champions Cup with a 5-0 trashing of Horseed last night in Morocco, as the club celebrates yet another big result after its partnership with KHK MMA, which is set to empower the biggest football team in the Kingdom of Bahrain nationally and internationally.
The club has made an impressive start to the season, with seven goals scored in the first two matches of the Mohammed VI Champions Cup and none goals conceded.
The Bahrain Premier League Champions relied on a man of the match performance from Komail Alaswad who scored a hat-trick en route to a monumental victory for Riffa SC, who now leads Group A of the preliminary round with six points.
Alaswad opened the score just before the break with a well-taken penalty, with Riffa going to the locker room with a deserved advantage. The team had much more to offer, and it showed as two minutes after the return to the second half Sayed Redha Isa scored a second goal to give the Bahraini champions a comfortable lead in the game.
From then on, the team started to dominate its Somalian counterpart, with several chances to score until Alaswad found the net twice more, in the first 20 minutes of the second half, completing a much-deserved hat-trick for the Bahraini.
To round up the score and leave Riffa ever closer from qualifying to the next round of the Mohammed VI Champions Cup, Mahdi Abduljabbar rounded up the score to 5-0.
With the victory, Riffa SC only needs a draw in the last round of the preliminary round to progress to the next stage of the competition. The KHK MMA supported team is in a very comfortable position, as even a defeat can qualify the team, since Ittihad Tanger and Al-Zawraa are tied in second place with three points each, but lack the same type of numbers in the goal difference department.
The Bahraini champions take on Iraq’s Al-Zawraa on August 24th, once again in Morocco, for the last game of the preliminary round of the Arab Champions Cup.
