Khalid bin Hamad congratulates Muharraq for reaching AFC Cup final

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), President of the General Sports Authority and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, attended on Wednesday the match between Muharraq Club and Kuwait Club of Kuwait which took place at the stadium of the late Shaikh Ali bin Mohammed bin Isa Al Khalifa at Muharraq Sports and Cultural Club.

The match was part of the semifinals of the AFC Cup. Among the attendees were Kuwaiti National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al Ghanim, HH Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Bahrain Football Association, HH Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, HE Shaikh Ahmed bin Ali Al Khalifa, President of Muharraq Club, HE Shaikh Thamer Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah,  Kuwait’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain, HE Dr Abdulrahman Sadiq Askar, CEO of the General Sports Authority, Khalid Al Ghanim, President of Kuwait Club.

Commenting on the game, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa praised the great performance of the Muharraq team in the match, which reflected the strong preparations undertaken by the team’s players who were equipped with high spirit to achieve victory and qualify for the final game.

Furthermore, HH Shaikh Khalid wished the team could repeat its 2008 successes when they lifted the cup of this competition. HH Shaikh Khalid also praised the massive turn-up for the game, underlining that the fans played a key part in this victory.

His Highness said: “We are pleased with what we witnessed throughout the match from our national representative; the Muharraq Club. This well-earned victory hopefully will inspire the team to win the final match too,”
